Convergence and Advocacy on HIV/AIDS with Nizamabad District Administration

Nizamabad was the third district visited by APSACS team under leadership of the project Director for Convergence and Advocacy on HIV/AIDS with District Administration. District Convergence and advocacy meeting was held on 11th August, 2011 at pragathi bhavan, Collector campus, Nizamabad. The meeting was chaired by Shri C. Parthasarathi, I.A.S. Project Director, APSACS and Shri D. Vara Prasad, I.A.S. Collector, Nizamabad. Representatives from various NGO’s, District officers, PHC Medical officers and (SPHO) Senior Public Health officer have participated in this meeting.

 

During the meeting Project Director Shri C. Partha Sarathi made a detailed presentation on epidemic scenario, response strategy and implementation status and focus areas for inter-sectoral coordination in Nizamabad district. He has appreciated DAPCU team for achieving 94% of Pre ART registration among ANC and for achieving 100 % MB pair. He asked the district team to close the gaps in PPTCT and ART registrations and discussed on convergence and inter-sectoral collaboration issues with district collector and nodal officers from other line departments.
As part of the meeting Project Director Explained the different Govt. Schemes available for PLHA’s like Bus passes, pension to PLHAs, AAY cards, Double Nutrition from ICDS project etc. He requested District Administration to strengthen HIV mainstreaming in the district by involving other line Departments and Priority for HIV positive in Welfare Schemes of Government.
The District Collector Shri D.Vara Prasad appreciated the efforts of APSACS for convergence and advocacy and stated that the programme would be taken forward with the more intensity and assured unhindered support of various departments for socio-economic support of PLHA.
